New Director for R.K. Kittay Library

The R.K. Kittay Library in Rupert Vermont welcomes our new Library Director, Paul Thompson.  Paul is originally from Nashville, TN.  He moved to Dorset in 2018 where he is also employed at the Dorset Library.  Paul graduated from Arizona State University in 2017.  He looks forward to getting to know and serve the Rupert community.

Volunteer Meeting at 9am July 31st

Kittay Library is having a volunteer meeting Saturday July 31st  before the event that the Trust is holding across the street at the Community Center.  The event starts at 9am and ends at 10am.

Travels with Bill Visits Rupert Library

Bill is journeying from the RK Kittay Library in Rupert, VT to libraries in all 14 counties in Vermont to raise awareness of how far small rural libraries can stretch a dollar.

Chromebooks & Kindles Available for Loan

Thank you to Vermont Community Foundation for selecting the
R.K. Kittay Library as a grant recipient for the Technology Grant allowing the library to purchase Chromebooks and Kindles for loan at the library!

Volunteers Needed

The R.K. Kittay Library is looking for a few extra volunteers to help out once a month (or more if you want) as we begin to re-open to our normal schedule this July.


Volunteers will be responsible for opening the doors and checking out books to our patrons. It's a fun and stress free opportunity for anyone looking to build upon some community service, ways to meet people in your community, or just looking for a quiet place to be for a few hours.


Time slots available are:

Sunday: 1pm - 4pm

Tuesday: 2:30pm - 5:30pm

Wednesday: 10am-2pm

Thursday: 5pm - 7pm

Saturday: 10am - 1pm

COVID-19Vaccine Available

The COVID-19 vaccine is now available to Vermont residents aged 75 and above. In order to receive the vaccine the state is asking residents to make an appointment online with the Department of Health or through Kinney Drugs. If any of our patrons or community members need access to a computer, or assistance registering please reach out to the library by emailing rupertkittaylibrary@gmail.com or

by calling (802) 394-2444.

R.K. Kittay Library awarded Children's Book Grant 

The Pilcrow Foundation, a national non-profit public charity had awarded the R.K. Kittay Library with the Children's Book Project Grant in late 2020. The 2:1 matching grant will allow the Kittay Library to add over 40 new titles to its children's section in 2021!
